DC 9745 Holostripe Model

Holostripe Model

The Holostripe Applicator is designed to apply holographic or conventional foil stripes, or magnetic tape, to documents requiring high security such as banderols, tax labels, tax stamps, tax seals, event and travel tickets, permits, vouchers, warranty certificates etc. The addition of holographic security is becoming more imperative to avoid illegal reproduction or tampering with the document. The application of foils also enhances the product to give greater value and visual impact. In roll to roll configuration the new model has been running at speeds up to 95m/min. Foil is fed from the new style bobbins which are becoming common in the industry and that allow a far greater length of foil to be wound than on the conventional pancake. The DC 9745 model has the option of a pancake cassette feed system to also allow high speed application of magnetic tape on transit tickets, airline boarding passes, car park tickets.
We have included streaming videos of this model on the Video Clips page of this website.

Installations

Imprensa Nacional-Casa da Moeda, the Portuguese Mint and Security Printer based in Lisbon has recently invested in a hologram application line from Dimuken. With 5 models comprising Unwind, 4 Head Hologram-Encoder, Rewind, Sheeter and Refolder/Stacker INCM have the ability to process hologrammed documents roll to roll, roll to sheet or high speed pack to pack.

8 years ago INCM acquired its own in-house technology for originating and embossing holograms and this has enabled them to offer the Portuguese and other Governments a totally secure and integrated design, emboss and foiling process.

INCM has now taken steps to make available its unique security expertise for high-end commercial applications.

Direct Forms of Auckland, New Zealand are delighted with their latest version of the Dimuken Patch Applicator/Cutter System that includes an in-line gluing unit. It was purchased to complement their existing standard version of the Dimuken Patch Applicator/Cutter and help expand their already huge product range of integrated cards and labels.

By applying their own adhesive directly to the web, and then cutting and applying in register a silicon coated backing film on the adhesive patch, they can significantly reduce their requirement for expensive pre-laminated stock. A new version of the Patch Cutter has also been purchased incorporating two magnetic cylinders to allow both sides of the web to be half die cut in-line with the Patch Applicator units. Many of the integrated products produced on these lines are designed to be laser proof and range from ID cards to peel out labels.

Last years purchase of a Dimuken Pattern Gluing/Drying system has allowed Direct Forms to expand into the specialist area of hand sealable response envelopes. Their new "DEL" sized laser proof envelopes are proving to be very popular.

With over 20 Dimuken machines Direct Forms are well equipped to handle virtually any kind of off-line "value added" work. Another recent purchase was a Dimuken Magnetic Tape Applicator that allows them to apply magnetic stripes to hotel room door "key cards". These are proving very popular with hotels where they are personalised and issued to guests upon arrival. The provision of plastic key cards can be expensive and issuing new "disposable" cards with the guests room access number encoded on issue, provides the required security level as well as a significant cost saving. This MTA model can apply magnetic stripes to other documents, labels and tickets when required.

Another recent purchase by Direct Forms of the Dimuken Patturn Gluing system has allowed them to specialise in hand sealable response envelopes. Their "DEL" sized laser proof envelopes are proving to be very popular.

Sales into Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore have been consistently strong over the past few years with several clients now having purchased well over 10 Dimuken machines each. The photograph below shows just part of the factory of one of the leading Thai Security Printers who is now the proud owner of over 25 Dimuken "green machines".

Due to the security level of the products they manufacture we are prohibited from giving details of the actual models, but they have purchased our standard units and some custom built machines to suit their own requirements for tickets, cards and a huge range of security documents.

The United Printing Publishing & Distributing Co - Security Press Division in Cairo recently installed a line comprising a DC 8614 H4 Hologram Encoder, DC 8203 Diecutter and DC 8922 Heavy Duty Sheeter. The line is principally used for the production of 100 million tickets annually for the Egyptian National Railways with a dedicated holographic image. The H4 is applying holograms on 4" deep tickets printed 4 up running to the 8203 Diecutter which star punches the web to create the ticket corners and then into the 8922 Sheeter to slit off the margin waste and with a special knife assembly slit the web into 4 separate streams. The streams are then individually free fall folded into packs of 1,000 to fit the ticket dispensing machines.

Sphinx Consulting worked together with Dimuken and UPPD in the supply of this system and also sourced the special security paper, organised the holographic origination and the final foil manufacture in order to provide the end user with a quality printed high security ticket.

UPPD is a major supplier of security print to the Egyptian market and is constantly seeking advanced technology to aid its client base in combating fraud.

Indian Ocean Debut
Dimuken has sold it latest DC 8614 H2 Hologram-Encoder to the island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean.

One of the oldest established business forms printing companies in the Island is Master's Continuous Stationery Ltd. Like countries all over the world Mauritius is facing an increasing level of document fraud and there has been an increasing demand from the Government, Banks and Commercial companies for increased protection on fiscal documents.

Apart from the requirement for holographic security Mr Matikola the owner of MCS needed to install MICR cheque encoding capacity to meet the new standards for E13B cheque encoding being implemented by the Bank of Mauritius. The DC 8614 H2 is in fact an excellent MICR encoder and with the optional heads it can also run standard numbering, blind embossing and small area patch printing from a ribbon.

Mr Matikola visited the UK in September with his family on a combined holiday and training visit. He spent 2 days at the Dimuken workshop in Peterborough gaining handson experience of the machine ahead of its installation in November.

NSPMC embraces Holographic Security
As well as its responsibility for printing the nations currency the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company Limited is also the major supplier of cheques and other fiscal documents to both the Government and major commercial banks in Nigeria and other African states.

With state of the art plants in Lagos and Abuja, the NSPMC is constantly reviewing its technology to stay at the forefront of the fight against fraud, and its technical and sales specialists determined that it needed to offer its customer base the highest level of holographic security.

A decision was taken at the end of last year to invest in a Dimuken DC 8614 HS4 Sheet Fed Hologram Applicator. The versatility of this model allows the Mint to process sheets from as small as A4 up to a maximum 52 x 72cm format and to run one, two, three or four holographic foil streams simultaneously each with its own independent foil registration system.

Production of cheques secured with holographic images has also commenced for the African market. The NSPMC fully intends to use it pre-eminent position in sub Saharan Africa to offer it services as a dedicated security printer to other Governments and leading Commercial entities.

Dimuken install 16 pairs of the DC-8406-FL50 Unwinder & DC-8407-FL50 Rewinder Units
Over the past two years Dimuken have installed 16 pairs of it's "Jumbo 50" Reel" Unwinder & Rewinder units into the Japanese market. The most recent installation was in Okayama at Nishio Sogo Printing Co., Ltd. who are very pleased with the way these models control the tensioning of the web, even when running at speeds of 150m/min with 50" reels.
Schinner Business Forms in Melbourne Australia are now awaiting delivery of their new DC-8406-FL50 Unwinder unit which will compliment the DC-8407-FL50 Rewinder unit they purchased a year ago for running in-line with their business forms presses.

The Dimuken "Jumbo 50" Reel" Unwinder & Rewinder models can easily be connected to a printing press, high speed laser printer, collator etc. which then allows them to be run in-line. So as to compensate for dramatic changes of web speed the units come with built-in "Buffers" which consist of several dancer rollers that allow the web to be accumulated while it is being wound, this feature makes them ideal for use with machines that have fast acceleration and deceleration speeds.

4 Colour Business Forms "Belt Print" Press sold to Syozyu Do in Tokyo
In April 2001 Dimuken sold one of it's unusual "Belt Print" Business Forms Presses to Syozyu Do in Tokyo. The machine will be used for printing very long forms (up to 2 metres in length) which are required for City Council offices and other establishments which require a continuous form to have several documents included in it.

A common use of these forms is to have one A4 sized form for each month of the year which are used for record keeping purposes.

Dimuken install 4 units for Romanian Government Printer
Imprimerie Nationala - RAIN, the Romanian Government Printer has installed 4 Dimuken units to apply holograms on Government tax invoices, bonds and certificates. The photograph below shows the DC 8406 Unwind running a web into the DC 8614 H4 four stream hologram applicator and then rewinding the web on the DC 8407 Rewind.

IPZS install 3rd Dimuken Hologram Applicator
Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato, the Italian Government Security Printer in Rome, have installed the latest 4 foil stream Dimuken DC 8614 HS Sheet Fed Hologram Applicator.

IPZS are part of a State owned group of security printers and an internationally renowned paper manufacturer. In addition to coordinating security products, banknotes and coins for the Italian Government they are also major suppliers of high security instruments to EC institutions and a wide variety of security products for other countries. By directly controlling the paper source and print technology with their own in-house hologram manufacturing facility IPZS offer a fully integrated and totally secure service to their clients. Originally founded in 1928, IPZS employ over 5300 people in their Rome facility.

The new DC 8614 HS model was purchased because of its versatile sheet range from as small as A4 up to a maximum of 50 x 70cm with the ability to lay down up to 64 registered images on a full size sheet. It is equipped with a stream feeder and powered infeed table into a 4 head foiling station exiting onto a descending delivery table. The machine can run 1 to 4 foil streams of registered image holograms, wallpaper holograms or standard foil, and with optional heads fitted, blind embossing or small area patch printing from a ribbon. Because each holographic image mark is sensed by a fiber optic mounted next to the stamping die the accuracy of registration of the image to the die is excellent. Images can be foiled in variable steps down or across the sheet with the feed depth programmed in increments of 0.1mm.

IPZS already operate a Dimuken DC 8614 H2 continuous web model and the previous smaller format 3 foil Sheet Fed model. This spread of application technology allows IPZS to offer its clients holographic security foiling on almost any permutation of sheet or continuous web products.
